During separation before divorce is finalized, is salary income considered common assets and should be divided between the two parties?

>>>>>>>>> No , but alimony may be awarded to either party .

If so, one can never buy any property that is not subjected to be divided. Is that true? Please advice.

>>>>>>>>> It's not a good idea to buy any significant assets until AFTER the divorce is final .
yeah!
and the part that stinks is when one party has the $$ and makes purchases and either puts them in the GF's name or his sisters name!
i HATE that!
