I bought the house in my name only and was given 3 acres by my parents. Can she do this if she had her name on my checking account but I made all payments while we lived together 6 mths before marrying? Also can I put my parents on the deed so she can't make me move if she ends marriage? I live in NC Help, I want to keep land in my family and not have her family kick me out and move in. Help
The 3 acres is separate property. If the house was purchased during the marriage, it is marital property and subject to division, regardless of whose name is on it. And putting your parents on the deed isn't going to change that.
