how do you keep track of alimony paid?

Silly question but i was thinking...do i issue a 1099 to my wife lol? Just curious how we both keep track of it.

And how is alimony paid?

Is it always thru court order and taken out of a paycheck or can i just set up monthly payments through my credit union (we will both be maintaining the same institution so VERY ez to just transfer money into her account)

or should i have the credit union mail out a paper check (it's free for me and then i'd have proof of mailing etc)

any and all advice or ways of doing this would be appreciated
