My question involves divorce in the State of: Ohio
I am right in the middle of a divorce. For the last 6 months I have been staying in a friends 10x10 room and made a decision to move on with things. I am sure it is debatable whether or not it was a good idea to buy a house, but it has ended up being much less than an apartment. Without using any marital assets, I purchased a home. The STBX agreed to sign the waiver of dower for the new home/loan. Long story short, she ended up taking my tax rebate and spending it on a lawyer late last week. I am set to close in 3 hours today and she said her lawyer told her not to sign this or any other papers. I have my mail forwarded there, I have the electricity/gas turned on, I took off next week to move, I have relatives coming in from out of town to help me, it is a HUGE event.
Soooo... I don't suppose there is any way to force her to sign, although it is doing nothing more than releasing her from interest in the property/loan. Is there ANY POSSIBLE way in this crazy state for me to do this without her and to deal with the dower later?
