I STILL don't understand what kind of law it is in your state that requires temporary support payments or fixes it at a very specific amount like that. It makes no sense. In most states, things like alimony/spousal maintenance payments are really dependent upon a whole lot of things as well as the independent judgment of the judges involved... I know of no states which have a statute or rule on the books saying, "if she leaves, you must pay"... I'd LOVE your lawyer's explanation of how he arrived at that number and what statute he's relying upon to get there... and WHY he has not suggested a way to get it lowered so that you might be able to afford to live while separated!
