I've been researching divorce info for 2 years, (I started a year after my husband moved to Indiana) and I do know that the first one filed will be the one recognized. However, you have to file for child support/custody (i already did that) in the county where the child resides. You can still go to the custody master at the local courthouse and get a hearing so that your custody & child support are secured (and it only takes about 20 days). I did that part in advance, because now it isn't an issue with our divorce - and, after 2 years it's almost like "commonlaw" divorce - whether one of you concents or not.
