Finding out my rights?

Hi Iam a mother of two children one from previous marriage and one from present marriage. But I need some advice on what to do about my 1st husband carrying insurance on my first child? He is very verbal abusive to me and he knows that his words hurt me.
I'm having some issues with him not wanting to pay for dental bills and doctor bills. I do have insurance but he doesn't I would like to know if this is right or if I should push the issue of him having insurance for our child.
I'm not sure what to do about this.I want what is best for my first child. I'm trying to make this easy on him but I have a feeling its going to get ugly in the end??
Any Help would be appreciated!!!
