I'm getting a divorce from my husband of 20 years. This is our 20th year in the Air Force. My husband was medically discharged after 11 years for mental problems. For the last 10 years he's been receiving 50% disability from the VA and retirement pay from the Air Force. I feel like I should fall under the 20/20/20 rule and have privaliges to all benefits such as ID card, medical, BX, etc. after the divorce. I don't want any of his military retirement,I just want to keep the benefits. I've been told that since he was medically discharged at 11 years that I can not continue the military benefits after the divorce....but no one in legal, or personal, or even my lawyer knows the answer. Who can help me get a straight and final answer? Thank you for any information you can share.
