Hi everyone, my husband told me he wants a divorce and has retained a lawyer. Im not too sure how the divorce process goes but I was wondering if the first step of a divorce is actually fileing papers with the court or if you get started by retaining a lawyer and giving them your personal information so they can do the dirty work for you? Does the court need the personal information before a divorce can be filed or is that something that you can put on hold until later on? My husband has not turned in the personal information papers that his lawyer gave him to fill out so Im wondering if he's putting it off, having second thoughts, if those papers arent really needed or if he's bluffing about the whole thing and is just holding this over my head in hopes that I'll change now that he's got the divorce "started". Any thoughts on this?
