Divorce Support Forums: we own a small business together- help!

i'm really nervous about this one...my soon to be ex-husband and i owned a small business together. actually, he owned it before we were married in oct. 2004, we married july 2006 and separated january 2007. the business has quite a bit of debt that has been accumulated throughout the term of the business. since our separation, a former employee filed a lawsuit against my ex (during the month of march). we were just about to file our divorce papers but when this happened, he put a halt to it all because he doesn't want to get "stuck with" all the debt and the impending law suit all alone. but what am i actually responsible for? during the six months we were married, i worked for the business for a little more than 3 months but never got a paycheck. the other 3 months i was at home pursuing my writing career. he is being very threatening and because i'm not too familiar with the laws, i don't really know what to believe. can somebody please help and let me know what i should be worried and not worried about? thanks so much!
